Perfect Harmony Take Home Activities
July 19, 2020
A Message from the Great American Songbook Foundation:
We know this is a challenging time across the nation and across the world right now. Now, more than ever, music and the arts provide a bridge to stay connected and stay positive no matter what the challenge. As Ella Fitzgerald once said, "Music is a universal language, it brings people closer together".
With this in mind, keep singing and keep celebrating the music of YOUR Songbook - with lyrics that bring comfort and melodies that bring healing in times of need. Music is the one friend that you don't have keep your distance from right now.
We continue our important work here at the Great American Songbook Foundation and look forward to singing and celebrating with you in person again soon. Until then, in the words of Meredith Willson, "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You" and your loved ones, wherever you may be.
-The Great American Songbook Staff (Chris, Renée, Lisa, Marissa and Chelsea)
WELCOME!
Perfect Harmony is a group music program for older adults living with dementia offered by the Great American Songbook Foundation. In partnership with the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and sponsored by American Senior Communities, Perfect Harmony offers a unique opportunity for social and musical engagement, and promotes holistic well-being through music.
First and foremost, the well-being, health and safety of our participants is the most important priority. In response to the unfolding COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, GASF has had to suspend all Perfect Harmony sessions. That being said, we want to keep music at the forefront of people's lives during this time. This blog was created to provide Perfect Harmony "Take-Home" Activities that are available for ALL to keep the music playing in their homes and communities!
These packets are created by board-certified music therapist, Allegra Hein (MT-BC), who consults with our Perfect Harmony program.
